Meet the Curator, Lola
Hola! I'm Lola and I have been making things out of paper since I was a little girl.
Like a lot of us, I did everything I was supposed to do. College. Career. The corporate ladder. And somewhere in the middle of all of it, my art got quiet. I kept going, but something was missing. I had lost the particular kind of joy that only comes from making something with your hands.
About five years ago, I decided to do something small and kind of silly: I bought my inner little girl some unicorn stickers at the grocery store. That was the beginning of Hola Paperie (and TBH, my journaling supplies obsession, too).
From that moment, I have filled every spare hour with journaling, art making, paper collecting, and creating. That has brought me back to myself in a way nothing else could. With time I realized that I wanted to build a place where other women could find their way back too.
That place is Hola Paperie. I am not a polished expert. I didn't go to art school. I am a creative who fell back in love with paper and never looked back. I built this for us.
The women who make stuff, so you can make stuff.
We commission talented women artists to create the materials in every release, because creative journaling is richer when it’s shaped by many hands, styles, and perspectives.
We hope their art becomes part of yours. Together, we can make something new.

Behind the Scenes: Producing the August Packet "Shape, Found"
Across all the formats, we featured 12 pieces of art in this packet. You already know how this theme found me. I was reviewing submissions the way I always do, asking myself the same question I ask every time -- does this make me want to create? A pile of pieces kept pulling themselves aside because they all had the same thing in common. Lines. Repetition. Structure that perhaps wasn’t on purpose.
